Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1292 BCE. An attractive pottery jar featuring a minimalist yet graceful body with a broad hip, a slanted shoulder, a broad neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon a petite, rounded base. The surface is adorned with black-on-red decoration with horizontal bands encompassing the shoulder and base of the neck, while petite dashes embellish the rim. Size: 4.1" Diameter x 3.8" H (10.4 cm x 9.7 cm)

Exhibited at the Drexel Museum, Philadelphia, 1895 to 1914; with the Drexel Institute Collection, Minneapolis Museum of Art, 1916 to 1958, ref. no. 16.580; at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 1986 to 1991; in the University of Arizona Museum of Art, October 1993 to December 1993; and in the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA), California State University, San Bernardino from 1998 to 2023, reference number EL01.065.1998.

A nearly identical pottery jar can be found at the Albany Institute of History and Art under accession number, 1934.4.15.
