China, Spring and Autumn Period, ca. 770-476 BCEA fine example of a bronze ge, or "dagger axe" of the Western Zhou Dynasty. The piece has beautiful openwork design on the nei, and interesting binding marks along the blade from an organic material long since gone. The triangular tip and slightly upturned angle of the blade are characteristic of ge from this period.
