Description:

Native American, Southwest United States, Southern Colorado Plateau, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), ca. 1075 to 1250 CE. A beautiful ceramic seed jar or submarine vessel of an elongated form enveloped in black-on-white decoration. Boasting a zigzag pattern painted on its exterior, the ancient vessel presents a petite, annular opening at its top center. Seed jars were originally made to protect seeds from pests and extreme temperature fluctuations. Many of these jars were broken when their owners needed to extract the seeds, making this intact example a rare find! Size: 5.7" L x 2.7" W x 2.5" H (14.5 cm x 6.9 cm x 6.4 cm)
