Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful 80.04% gold ring set with a brown sardonyx cameo of ovoid form. Rising from the surface of the sardonyx is a left-facing man standing nude while reaching one hand out to touch the top of an ovoid shield adorned with a Roman eagle. The shield, perhaps a trophy for athletic or military feats, is presented atop a suit of armor befitting a warrior. Size (cameo): 0.91" L x 0.67" W x 0.16" H (2.3 cm x 1.7 cm x 0.4 cm); (ring setting): 0.98" L x 0.76" W x 0.92" H (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm x 2.3 cm); gold quality: 80.04% (equivalent to 18K+); weight: 7.6 grams; US ring size: 6.5
