Description:

Classical World, Northern Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 600 BCE. A terracotta votive profile head of a woman, the visible half of her face framed by long wavy tresses and topped the soft flowing hood of a himation with a circular vent in the flat back. Though mold made, the artisan went to great lengths to capture the details of this visage - her almond shaped eyes, arched browline, aquiline nose, full lips, delicate chin, and slender neck - and conjure a sense of idealized beauty as well as humanity. A lovely example! Size: 5.5" W x 8.5" H (14 cm x 21.6 cm); 10.5" H (26.7 cm) on included custom stand.
