Description:

Classical World, Etruria (Italy), ca. 5th century BCE. A mold-made pottery head of a young man, depicted wearing a rounded, textured headdress that rests atop his slightly curly hair. Her face has full lips, a thin nose, almond-shaped eyes, and a mouth similar to the Greek "Archaic Smile," which has been taken by art historians to mean that the subject is intended to appear alive and peaceful. He wears a rounded headdress and his gently wavy hair is finely rendered, framing his face. This votive figure may have been left at a tomb or temple as an offering. This example is particularly fine, with wonderfully preserved details. Size: 6" W x 9" H (15.2 cm x 22.9 cm)

A similar example sold at Christie's London in 2009 for GBP 3500 (approximately USD $6500): https://www.christies.com/lotfinder/Lot/an-etruscan-terracotta-head-of-a-youth-5249709-details.aspx
