Northern Italy, Etruria, ca. 4th century BCE. A handsome pair of Etruscan bucchero olpes, each with an elegant silhouette comprised of a bowl-shaped lower section, a concave wall above the shoulder that is adorned with a series of incised horizontal lines, and a neck that flares to a wide pouring spout with a raised strap handle joining rim to shoulder. A delicate disc foot is at the base of each. These are lovely examples with black glossy surfaces that dazzle with a silvery sheen achieved via diligent burnishing. Size: 3.7" W x 6.5" H (9.4 cm x 16.5 cm); 7.7" H (19.6 cm) on included custom stand.
