Description:

**Originally Listed At $300**

Classical World, Italy, Etruria, ca. late 7th to 6th century BCE. An attractive wheel-thrown ceramic oinochoe with a petite discoid foot, a spherical body with a sloping shoulder, a flared rim with a rounded lip, and an applied strap handle arching between rim and shoulder. The entire vessel is covered in lustrous jet-black finish that exudes a sense of elegance and wealth. Bucchero is a specifically Etruscan technique for firing pottery which results in a smooth, shiny black finish. This type of oinochoe may have been made specifically to be buried with offerings, as was often the case for such fine Etruscan pottery. Size: 3.8" W x 5.8" H (9.7 cm x 14.7 cm).
