Description:

Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 768 to 264 BCE. A beautiful kylix, a drinking cup for water or wine, with two huge strap handles extending from the foot and blending into the body at the almost non-existent rim. This is done in the bucchero style, which is diagnostic of the Etruscans, a method of firing pottery that results in a smooth, shiny black finish. This type of drinking cup may have been made specifically to be buried with offerings, as much fine Etruscan pottery was. Size: 4.4" L x 6.6" W x 4.3" H (11.2 cm x 16.8 cm x 10.9 cm)
