Description:

Classical World, Northern Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown blackware pottery chalice of an elegant form meant to be deposited into a grave as a funerary offering. The chalice has a flared foot beneath a slender stem, broad walls, and a thin rim that surrounds the shallow basin. A pair of raised concentric rings encircle the top of the foot, and a trio of incised striations ring around the exterior walls. Size: 6.3" W x 7.625" H (16 cm x 19.4 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with minor overpainting along break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks to rim, walls, stem, and foot, with light fading to areas of original black pigment, and light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
