Description:

Classical World, Etruria, ca. 400 to 300 BCE. A beautiful 16 karat gold pendant in the form of an arch with a fantastical granulated motif on its interior. The motif seems to shown two columns atop a table, with a large granulated section at its center. The imagery calls to mind a temple or altar. A loop at the top of the arch allows the piece to be worn. During the Etruscan period, especially this later part of it, jewelry was omnipresent, worn by men, women, and children. This golden pendant would have been a highly treasured personal item, perhaps expressing some religious devotion. Size: 0.75" W x 0.95" H (1.9 cm x 2.4 cm); 2.9 grams
