Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A stunning, free-blown translucent green glass vessel of pale verdant hues and marvelous rainbow iridescence. The jug presents a beautiful form comprised of a cylindrical body that rises to a tubular neck and resolves to a wide funnel mouth; a thick trailed handle joins the upper neck to the shoulder. All stands upon a concave base with a broken pontil. This piece was clearly a utilitarian vessel; however, its elegant form, gorgeous coloring, and rainbow iridescence make for an aesthetically beautiful example as well! Size: 3.875" in diameter x 7.875" H (9.8 cm x 20 cm)
