Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A pleasing vessel in the form of a gleeful deer. The stone-burnished surface is mix of orange, red, and brown hues decorated with light incisions forming large ovoid eyes, a minute snout, and detailed teeth. Two charming ears adorn each side of the vessel giving it a multi-dimensional silhouette. A short spout rises from the deer’s forehead and is accented by an adjacent strap handle. Size: 8" L x 5" W x 6.5" H (20.3 cm x 12.7 cm x 16.5 cm)
