Description:

Ancient Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd century BCE. A tall, slender, and dignified alabastron that is hand-carved from alabaster of white and light yellow hues. The elongated vessel features a rounded base, twin lug handles, a tapered neck, and a discoid rim surrounding a petite mouth. Vessels like this were commissioned by aristocratic Greek women in order to use as a storage container for scented oils or perfumes during bathing. Size: 1.5" W x 4.5" H (3.8 cm x 11.4 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.
