Egypt, 26th Dynasty, Saite Dynasty, ca. 685 - 525 BCE. A carved wooden sarcophagus mask, with deep eyes, well formed nose, large cheeks, pursed lips, and headdress. Once painted, remnants of the black paint still remain. Wooden dowels on rear of mask for mounting to the larger sarcophagus. 11-3/4"H. Custom stand. Provenance: Ex-Irwing Schwartz Collection, CT; Ex-Jean & Huguette Ramie, Cannes, France.
