Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A beautiful banded alabaster palette of rectangular form with 4 nubbin legs protruding from the bottom. The honey-yellow composition features integral, opaque white bands that are visible in bright light. Palettes like this were perhaps used for preparing medicine or cosmetic material, or maybe for holding trinkets and small objects by a bedside. Size: 4.71" L x 3.46" W x 1.71" H (12 cm x 8.8 cm x 4.3 cm)
