Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 1295 to 30 BCE. A nearly perfect spherical loom weight pecked and polished from a speckled granite stone. A hole is drilled from one side completely through, with wear around the larger opening from use. This may have functioned as weight for loom or measuring scale. Size: 1.25" Diameter (3.2 cm)

Exhibited in the Lily Place Collection, Minneapolis Institute of Art, from 1928 to 1958, ref. no. 28.242; at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 1986 to 1991; and in the University of Arizona Museum of Art, October 1993 to December 1993.
