Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, 11th to 13th Dynasty, ca. 2130 to 1650 BCE. A rare copper polearm blade from the ancient Egyptian Middle Kingdom period. The blade exhibits a relatively straight form before curving along each exterior terminal, and a third, tab-shaped terminal protrudes out from the back of the midsection. Each terminal is pierced twice for attachment, and each still retains 1 original rivet for a total of 3 rivets. Smooth layers of green and russet patina have formed across the blade. Size: 15.375" L x 2" W x 1.03" H (39.1 cm x 5.1 cm x 2.6 cm)

Provenance: private South Sutton, New Hampshire, USA collection, acquired in the early 1960s
