Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A miniature, mold-formed faience amulet of Anubis, the god of the dead and the process of embalming. Anubis stands in a striding pose with his left leg advanced atop an integral plinth, holds his arms in a characteristically rigid manner to his sides with his hands in fists, and displays his characteristic jackal-form head with pointed ears and a narrow snout. The pendant is enveloped in lustrous sea green-hued glaze, and a biconically-drilled suspension hole is situated behind the shoulders. Size: 2.375" H (6 cm)
