Description:

Ancient Egypt, late Ptolemaic to Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A hand-sculpted faience figural fragment covered in turquoise-hued glaze. The figure wears a shendyt skirt and strides with left leg presented between a pair of standing lions, each with a black-painted mane. Additional black stripes on the verso indicate this figure was further decorated along the now-missing upper half. Size: 1.90" L x 1.68" W x 3.07" H (4.8 cm x 4.3 cm x 7.8 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.

  • Condition: This is a fragment of a larger figure as shown. Abrasions and nicks commensurate with age, with fading to glaze pigment, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to finer details and turquoise glaze. TL drill holes on top and bottom.
