Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A mold-formed faience pendant featuring a petite figure of Bes - the dwarf phylactery deity - on both sides. The figure stands atop attenuated legs, holds hands to hips, and wears a feathered crown atop his head. The pendant displays remains of turquoise-hued glaze, and a suspension hole is drilled laterally through the crown. Size: 0.6" W x 1.6" H (1.5 cm x 4.1 cm)
