Egypt, Coptic culture, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely textile fragment composed of tightly-woven natural cotton fibers in cream and espresso hues. Presented are three standing figures, the central being completely nude, and the two flanking him wear short skirts with lengthy trails on the verso. A wonderful example of Coptic artistry! Mounted inside glass display frame. Size (textile): 8.875" L x 8.25" W (22.5 cm x 21 cm); size (display frame): 14.125" L x 11.125" W (35.9 cm x 28.3 cm).
