Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic period, ca. 712 to 332 BCE. A dazzling set of 25 spherical carnelian beads of a translucent, cinnabar red beautifully arranged in a repetitive pattern with faience beads of tubular beige forms and discoid white forms on a modern chain. All of the beads on this lovely wearable necklace are ancient, but have been strung in modern times creating a gorgeous combination of ancient art and modern fashion. Size of largest bead: 0.5" in diameter x 0.5" H (1.3 cm x 1.3 cm); Size of chain: 23" L (58.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, acquired from Goldberg Auctions, Los Angeles, California, USA in 1968

  • Condition: Ancient beads on modern string. A few carnelian beads and many faience bead have minor nicks/chips commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent and wearable with lovely patina in some areas.
