Description:

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. One of the iconic images of ancient Egypt, this is a cast bronze figure of a striding pharaoh. He is nude aside from his wig, crown, and uraeus. His hands are low in front of his body, with something between them - an offering to the gods, perhaps a bowl, although time has somewhat obscured the details. The figure stands atop an integral thin bronze platform. This would have been a votive figure, perhaps kept in a small altar or left behind as an offering. Size: 1.3" W x 2.95" H (3.3 cm x 7.5 cm); 4.45" H (11.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection; ex-Phillip Mitry collection, noted dealer in Cairo, Egypt until about 1951 when he emigrated to the United States
