Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi, Bahia, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A wonderful pottery figure of a shaman depicted seated with legs crossed and hands on lap. His sizeable head displays an expressive visage with downturned eyes beneath arched brows, a straight nose, and full lips held open as though mid-chant, all flanked by a pair of annular earspools and capped by a towering headdress. A necklace bearing a protruding shaman's horn hangs across his chest, as bracelets adorn his slender wrists. Size: 4.7" W x 5.6" H (11.9 cm x 14.2 cm)
