Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A wearable necklace constructed with 31 hand-built pottery spindle whorl beads of varying forms. Presenting in hues of red, brown, beige, taupe, peach, and slate, the beads feature notched peripheries, incised motifs, and flattened, scalloped forms. Size (necklace): 24" L (61 cm); (largest bead): 1.6" W x 1" H (4.1 cm x 2.5 cm)

  • Condition: Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Pottery beads are ancient; stringing and findings are modern. Some beads with minor chips, light abrasions, and softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
