Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A beautiful necklace comprised of two conjoined strands of modern oxidized silver with a loop and T-bar fastener combo on the terminals. The upper strand contains five spherical pottery spindle whorls, each displaying an abstract zoomorphic figure of either a reptilian or avian form. The lower strand droops below the upper strand and has a trio of pottery spindle whorls hanging on a drop pendant. Each spindle whorl has its details brought forth with applied white pigment within the recessed areas, making for a stylish and wearable accessory! Size (necklace): 18.25" L (46.4 cm); size (largest bead): 0.8" Diameter (2 cm).
