**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Guangala culture, ca. 500 CE. A charming standing figure, pierced through the top of the head so that it could be worn as a pendant or decorated with feathers or metal rings. The figure is squat, with a wide head, large nose and ears, and incised eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. A large necklace or collar is incised below the chin. The figure's arms curve inward at the elbow, so that the hands nearly meet in front of the stomach. It wears a loincloth which is depicted hanging down between the short, wide legs. White and red pigmentation completes this adorable figure. Size: 2" W x 2.95" H (5.1 cm x 7.5 cm); 3.1" H (7.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
