Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Bahia culture, ca. 300 to 500 CE. A charming pottery figure of a seated woman holding a sleeping infant in her lap. She wears a bulbous headdress, a beaded necklace, bangles, and earrings - all indicating that she is likely a noblewoman or member of the social elite. A lovely depiction of maternal love from ancient Ecuador! Size: 5.9" W x 8.4" H (15 cm x 21.3 cm)

  • Condition: Light surface wear as expected with age. Weight of headdress inhibits figure from sitting up properly on its own but can easily due so with added support. Otherwise, intact and excellent with ample remaining detail and nice earthen and manganese deposits. Choice and impressively preserved!
