Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi Province, Bahia culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery figure of a woman standing atop delineated legs. She holds both hands up to her chest in a protective manner, has red pigment decorating her feet and lower legs, and displays a thick nose ring dangling from her septum. Her enlarged head bears protruding ovoid eyes, an ovoid mouth with thick lips, circular earrings on her ear lobes, and a minimalist cap with a vent hole on the verso. Size: 4.75" W x 10.1" H (12.1 cm x 25.7 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired with infill material along some break lines and resurfacing to some others; some break lines are still visible. Fading to pigment in some areas, with softening to some finer details, and light earthen deposits. Nice preservation to overall form.
