Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi, Bahia, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A nicely modeled terracotta seated shaman figure, with both hands placed upon his crossed legs, donning a spiked headdress, circular earspools, armbands, and a substantive pectoral with a large pendant. His visage is spectacularly expressive, comprised of almond-shaped eyes, a protruding curved nose, nicely modulated facial planes, and a gentle smile. Areas of red pigment remain on the surface. Size: 5.25" W x 9" H (13.3 cm x 22.9 cm)
