Description:

Roman, Eastern Empire, Holy Land, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A nicely preserved bowl of a squat form, free-blown from semi-translucent glass of an attractive blue-green hue. The vessel has a slightly concave base with a smooth pontil scar, thick walls, and a deep basin surrounded by a splayed rim. Fine layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence have developed across the interior and exterior surfaces. Size: 3.8" W x 2.25" H (9.7 cm x 5.7 cm)

  • Condition: Minor abrasions to base, walls, rim, and basin surfaces, with micro-bubbling within glass matrix, and light weathering and encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits as well as great silver and rainbow iridescence throughout. Old inventory number written in black ink beneath rim exterior, and old inventory number blacked out beneath base.
