Native American, Acoma, New Mexico, ca. 1920s to 1930s CE. A beautiful polychrome olla of a curvaceous form with hand-built, remarkably thin walls created via the coil-and-scrape technique and finely painted in rich orange, black, and cream slips. The imagery is comprised of abstract motifs inspired by elements of the natural world - butterflies above large avian creatures, perhaps owls. A stunning vessel with an elegant silhouette and brilliantly painted composition by a Pueblo potter of the Southwest. Size: 10.5" Diameter x 9.1" H (26.7 cm x 23.1 cm)

- Condition: Professionally repaired with some chipping and adhesive along visible break lines. Two stable fissures radiating vertically across the body from the rim. Surface abrasions and chips to paint, but most of the painted iconography is well preserved.
