A carved wooden male and female couple, both depicted as standing figures with their arms rigidly positioned at their sides, both wearing red jackets over black vestments, with gold leaf adorned hands and traces of gilding on their faces and chests. They stand at attention and face front with well-carved facial features, the woman's hair in a concentric bun, the male with a mustache and turban over his coiffure that is drawn to a man-bun. A wonderful duo from Sulawesi, formerly known as Celebes, the world's eleventh largest island and one of the four Greater Sunda Islands, east of Borneo.
