Description:

Southeast Africa, Tanzania, Zigua people, ca. early 20th century CE. An interesting wooden figure, carved from a cylindrical piece of wood, with a long thick body and nubbin arms. A slightly protruding belly button is the only other detail added to the body besides the short limbs. The oversized, rounded head features arched brows, narrow eyes, a ridged nose, and full lips. This log-like figure was used in ritualistic practices. Size: 10" L x 3.25" W (25.4 cm x 8.3 cm)
