Oceania, Papua New Guinea, inland Morobe province, Kukukuku people, ca. 1930 CE. A fascinating wooden club with a long, tapering handle that terminates in a studded, "pineapple-shaped" stone striking end with deeply scored, roughly pyramidal points. Items like these were used by the Kukukuku, who were described by a Western observer as "the little killers in bark cloaks". Kukukuku men created weapons like this one, and wore them tucked into the backs of their belts, hidden by their bark cloaks.
