Papua New Guinea, ca. 1930s. A woven fiber, arrow-proof cuirass vest or body armor, meticulously woven from natural plant fibers. Such garments served to protect the wearer when battling with neighboring tribes - allowing the warrior to feel confident that even without a bow shield, his body was protected from the enemy's arrows. Size: 15.5" W x 17.75" H (39.4 cm x 45.1 cm); 24.25" H (61.6 cm) on included custom stand.
