Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast (USA and Canada), Haida or Tlingit peoples, ca. 1925 CE. A fabulous totemic statue, hand-carved from finely-grained cedar, attached to a rectangular platform with planar sides. The body of the totem displays (from top to bottom) a proud eagle grasping a large fish in its talons, a bear with red semi-precious stone eyes grasping a tree trunk with all four paws, a squatting human with similar semi-precious stone eyes with a central chest bulge, and an abstract animal with plateaued eyes and a bulbous nose, perhaps a boar or pig. Each character is painted with earthy green, red, and black pigments, with only the eagle head and bead exhibiting pale yellow hues. Size: 6.5" W x 22.125" H (16.5 cm x 56.2 cm).
