Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Native American, Southwestern United States, Dine (Navajo), ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A spectacular vintage concha belt of 8 sterling silver medallions and a large buckle plate, all inlaid with turquoise cabochons and the buckle is monogramed "EMF." The segments are held together with sterling silver chains and a hook clasp closure on the buckle, but each concha also has a copper loop on the verso for a belt strap. This is wearable piece and unsigned without any hallmarks, suggesting it's an older example of Dine silversmithing and perhaps a custom monogram. Size: 32.5" L (82.6 cm); buckle: 3.5" L x 2.5" W (8.9 cm x 6.4 cm); silver quality: 94.4% to 94.8%; weight: 377.5 grams
