Mexico, Puebla, ca. 1900. A bewitching carved and polychrome painted ceremonial mask, most likely depicting a 'Moro' from the Dance of the Christians and the Moors. The visage of this example is particularly engaging with his fetching mustache and goatee, thick eyebrows, and piercing eyes. Eye slits and nose holes were created for the wearer.
