Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, ca. early 20th century CE. A carved oil lamp, composed of three wooden components slotted together. The lamp is in the form of a carved pregnant woman whose body is similarly shaped to those of the famous shadow puppets for the same reason - including a cap-like head and elongated, curved nose. Through her pregnant belly is a dual-sided platform for holding oil lamps. She stands on an integrated square platform. Size: 11.25" W x 36" H (28.6 cm x 91.4 cm)
