A lovely pair of first edition books by Jack London; his last 2 canine-centered stories. "Jerry of the Islands" focuses on the adventures of Jerry, an Irish Terrier born in the Solomon Islands, who survives a shipwreck, is adopted by natives, escapes to the jungle, and is eventually returned to his master. Size (about the same): 5.3" L x 1.3" W x 7.8" H (13.5 cm x 3.3 cm x 19.8 cm)

"Michael, Brother of Jerry" details the escapades of Jerry's brother, who is accidentally left behind on an island and subsequently abducted by a steward that first plans to sell him and then, after growing fond of the terrier, takes him on a trip around the world.

Born John Griffith Chaney, Jack London was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist who became one of the first American authors to gain international celebrity status. Considered an innovator of science fiction, London was a passionate advocate of unionization, workers' rights, and socialism. He is most famous for writing "The Call of the Wild" and "White Fang," both set in the Klondike Gold Rush which London joined at the age of 21 in 1897.

  • Condition: Both are without dust jackets and in near fine condition with very minor bending and rubbing to peripheries of covers and light weathering to edges of some pages. Both have pencil inscriptions on front free-endpaper and stamp of previous owner on pastedown. "Jerry of the Islands" also has cut-out inset of summary on front free-endpaper.
