Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A personal ceremonial weapon known as a kris (also keris) with forged-steel kris of relatively wavy form. The sharpened hand guard projects from one side of the shoulder, and above is a spacer disc and abstract curved handle covered with sheets of 98% to 99% silver. The sizable sheath and guard protector are adorned with additional silver sheets decorated in repousse with dense foliate motifs that create a wondrous presentation.
