**First Time At Auction**

Central Asia, India, Naga people, ca. early 20th century CE. An intriguing bamboo arrow quiver of a tall, cylindrical form, with a woven rattan lid and carrying strap, and a pair of slender quills from a crested porcupine in the binding. The top half of a monkey skull is secured to the top of the quiver with braided sennet fiber strands to create an intimidating ornamental element. The exterior of the quiver bears remains of original brown earthen pigment, and fine patina has formed across the composition. Size: 3.125" W x 24.5" H (7.9 cm x 62.2 cm).

  • Condition: Losses to areas of back straps, arrows, and jaw of monkey skull as shown. Quill tips are broken off. Minor fissures to quiver body, with darkening to exterior surfaces, and chipping to original earthen pigment. Great patina throughout.
