Oceania, North Pacific, Hawaii, ca. 1930s CE. A gorgeous hand carved wooden bowl made from wood of the koa tree, a native species to the Hawaiian islands that thrives in volcanic soil. The bowl is shaped with a flat base and walls that swell slightly out and rise up to a thick rim. The wood is polished smooth on the interior and exterior surfaces. The beautiful natural swirling caramel and chocolate brown grain of the koa wood is well-preserved, imbuing the vessel with natural beauty. Size: 9.75" Diameter x 3.25" H (24.8 cm x 8.3 cm)
