Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest, Haida, ca. 1930's. Hand-carved from a single piece of red cedar, a totem pole model depicting from top to bottom: a guardian spirit with bird wings and a wide-eyed, toothy grimace sitting atop a square pedestal painted with avian/zoomorphic forms, and a perched eagle or raven below with a pronounced beak, wings, and tailfeathers. Details are finely carved and incised as well as finely painted in black upon the lustrous red cedar. A wonderful example of totemic artwork! Size: 15.25" H (38.7 cm)
