Description:

Latin America, Central America, Guatemala, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved and finely-detailed Guatemalan festival mask representing a donkey. The elongated snout displays a petite nose and red-painted mouth, while a pair of recessed eyes are detailed with red, black, and silvery paint, each with a radiant circle of eye lashes on their exterior. An elongated cream-hued triangle separates the tall pair of ears, each held in place by a slender wooden dowel. Two knotted strings are on the top and side of the mask for suspension, making this an easily-displayable piece of Guatemalan artistry! Size: 10.75" W x 8.5" H (27.3 cm x 21.6 cm).
