Latin America, Guatemala, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden mask of a deer's head with real antlers. The antlers are covered in brown earthen material, most of which remains, while the head is painted brown with white, red, and black details at the mouth and eyes. The tongue lolls out between an open mouth, and the verso is carved out for wear. A wonderful piece from Guatemala! Size: 10.5" W x 14.5" H (26.7 cm x 36.8 cm).
