Central America, Guatemala, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved and vibrantly painted wooden festival mask. This type is known as El Patron (Clown Mask) with its characteristic white face, red cheek marks, black brows, moustache and goatee, red mouth and nose tip. Finally its generously lashed openwork eyes complete the dramatic visage. Size: 6.875" W x 7.625" H (17.5 cm x 19.4 cm)
