Description:

Southeast Asia, Burma/Myanmar, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. An older 4 string banjo made from modified guitar and handmade parts from metal, wood, and hide. The verso of the wood resonator is painted with a faint stylized lotus flower or chakra motif. Nails and screws are used to secure the metal brackets / rim, which appear to be hand made. An interesting instrument to use as rustic décor! Size: 37" L x 11" W (94 cm x 27.9 cm); 37.5" H (95.2 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Fair condition. Makes noise, but not playable in current condition. Missing bridge. The hide head has perforations and tearing away from wood. Nails are bent with oxidation and patina throughout. Wood heel is split and repaired with black pitch. Missing tuners and possibly 2 strings. Abrasions and chips to wood. Comes with a custom display stand.
